BROWN Sugar Café and Bar has officially taken out this week’s Best Breakfast Spot, and judging by the crowd packed inside on Friday morning, the community absolutely made the right call.
The place was buzzing from the moment I walked in – that steady, cheerful hum of locals grabbing their morning fix, staff weaving through with coffees and plates.
Online reviews echo the same vibe of friendly service, hearty meals and a welcoming atmosphere.
For this week’s pick, I ordered their breakfast sandwich, a classic combination of fried egg, bacon and cheese, with your choice of sauce.
And look, when it comes to a breakfast sandwich, there is only one correct answer, barbecue sauce. It’s not up for debate – BBQ is the backbone of a proper breakfast sandwich, and I will die on this hill.
The sandwich itself was a bacon lover’s dream, absolutely stacked to the brim, and as someone who proudly identifies as a bacon enthusiast, I was happy to rise to the challenge.
The cheese added a lovely richness, the egg was a special type of runny, and the bread, which was buttered and grilled on the outside, held everything together perfectly.
And if you’re not buttering and toasting the bread before making that sandwich, you’re simply doing wrong.
However, there are downsides to having that much bacon – due to the volume it was a bit greasy.
But honestly, that’s part of the charm when you go all in. It’s indulgent, it’s messy, and it’s exactly what a Friday morning treat should be.
Overall, I’d give the breakfast sandwich a solid 8/10, the service was lovely, the atmosphere bustling, and the meal hit the spot.
