AFTER putting the call out on social media for which pizza joint Ash’s Appetite should head to next, the comments were overflowing with one name – Gourmet Pizza Truck.

You voted them your number one favourite, so of course I had to see what all the fuss was about.

And let me tell you, you picked well.

Not only did I go, but the owners, Karen and Alan, went above and beyond and let me go behind the scenes to make my own pepperoni pizza.

That alone set the tone.

These guys aren’t just serving great food; they genuinely love sharing the craft.

The dough was soft and lively, the cheese looked like it had been grated minutes earlier, and the pepperoni was bright and fragrant.

Being hands-on made me appreciate every step so much more.

They shared a few pizza secrets I’d never even thought about, and the standout trick was their use of extra herbs.
Not a shy sprinkle, but a confident dusting that transformed the aroma and depth of the pizza.

When it came time to add the toppings, I took full advantage of being hands-on in the process.

The pepperoni was layered generously, and the cheese followed.

Once the pizza came out of the oven, the cheese was melting evenly, the pepperoni crisping at the edges, and the herbs releasing their aroma as everything came together.

The result was a beauty.

The sauce was the star of the show. Rich, tangy, and bold, easily a 9.5/10.

The crust hit that perfect balance of crunchy without being a dental hazard, a solid 9/10.

The toppings landed at 8/10, fresh and generous, especially with my pepperoni overload.

Beyond the food itself, Gourmet Pizza Truck has a story that reflects exactly what we love to highlight on Ash’s Appetite.

Despite opening in November last year, their rapid rise in popularity, driven by loyal customers and strong community support, has already led to the launch of their second food truck.

It’s a testament to what a dedicated, family-owned local business can achieve when quality and passion are at the centre of everything they do.
