TWO acclaimed design duos from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) brought the spirit of Quandamooka Country to life on the national stage as Country to Couture celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Presented as part of the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and delivered by Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP), the annual event has become a cornerstone of Australia’s First Nations fashion calendar – and this year’s milestone runway featured bold, contemporary collections that celebrated Country.

Delvene Cockatoo-Collins presented her collection Warrajamba – A Mermaid in the Bay in Show 1: Threads of Country, a runway honouring Land, Water, and Country. Also taking to the runway in Show 2: Rising Colours – The BLAK Party were Dr Sandra Delaney and Shara Delaney of Salt Water Murris Quandamooka, with their vibrant collection Tabilbahn Yunggulba (Saltwater Tidal).
