CHAMPION Redlands Coast (CRC) has officially relaunched with a renewed focus on attracting investment, supporting local businesses, and creating meaningful job opportunities across the Redlands Coast.

About 60 guests attended the launch at the Grand View Hotel in Cleveland, including Redlands MP Rebecca Young, Oodgeroo MP Amanda Stoker, Deputy Mayor Julie Talty and councillors Peter Mitchell, Rowanne McKenzie, Wendy Boglary and Jason Colley.

Mayor Jos Mitchell was an apology.

The newly independent CRC is expected to deliver significant benefits.

Operating separately from local government, the organisation will have greater flexibility to attract investment, advocate for the Redlands Coast, and engage directly with key stakeholders.

Cr Peter Mitchell, who holds the Economic Development Portfolio, said the relaunch marked an important step in shaping a vibrant, resilient and sustainable future for the region.

“Champion Redlands Coast will help unlock our region’s potential by supporting local businesses, attracting investment and creating meaningful jobs,” Cr Mitchell said.

“A strong economy can sit comfortably alongside our social, environmental and community values, and this independent group of business leaders will play an important role in driving that balanced future.”

SeaLink’s Ben Renwick, one of CRC’s five new Board members, said ensuring the region’s islands were central to CRC’s long-term planning was a key priority.

“I’m excited by CRC’s focus on building a stronger, data-driven foundation for economic development across the region,” he said.

“What interests me most is ensuring North Stradbroke Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands are part of that work.

“Both have significant potential but distinct needs and being on the board allows me to represent those communities as CRC shapes its long-term vision.”

He said island operators, mainland businesses, transport providers, community groups and industry leaders all played a key role.

“CRC can bring those perspectives together, so decisions are informed by real, on-the-ground insight.”

He said positioning the Redlands Coast as an investment destination would rely on consistent messaging and a unified strategy.

“If we align around a shared vision, and ensure the islands are part of it, Redlands Coast can position itself as a compelling investment destination,” he said.

Funding for CRC is provided by 11 founding member organisations – QYAC, RWC, RTL Trades, Hub68, Redland Bayside News, Raby Bay Harbour, MDT Property & Energy, Wingate Properties, SeaLink, Sirromet Wines and Fiteni — with all Board positions voluntary.
