REDLANDS sporting clubs, schools and community organisations are urged to put their hands up for a share of fresh funding, with Round 2 of Rebecca Young’s Community Sponsorship and Support Program now officially open.
After a successful first round backed grassroots sport, community facilities, emergency preparedness and inclusive programs across the area, the Member for Redlands said she was keen to see even more local groups benefit.
Among the first-round recipients were Thunderbolts Netball Club Inc, Bay FM 100.3, Redland Bay Tennis Club, Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club, Redland City FC and the Victoria Point Sharks Junior AFL Club.
Mrs Young said the program was making a genuine difference where it mattered most.
“Our community groups and sporting clubs are powered by passionate volunteers who give countless hours to make Redlands a better place to live,” Mrs Young said.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to achieve through Round 1, supporting projects that make our community more connected, more inclusive and more resilient.”
The first round funded a wide range of community projects, including improving Bay FM’s emergency response capability, helping Redland Bay Tennis Club reduce operating costs to keep tennis affordable, installing much-needed shade at Redland City FC, supporting more than 400 junior players – including the Victoria Point Sharks’ first-ever All Abilities team – backing Thunderbolts Netball Club and supporting the Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club’s flagship community competition.
Mrs Young said that while the projects were diverse, they all shared one important goal.
“These projects might all be different, but they have one thing in common; they’re making a real difference for local people,” she said.
Round 2 is now accepting applications across four funding categories.
Major Sponsorships offer grants of up to $2500 for large clubs, major events and projects delivering broad community benefits.
Community Partnerships provide up to $500 for clubs, schools, P&Cs and community groups with initiatives that have a clear local impact.
Micro Support covers raffle prizes, in-kind donations and smaller requests throughout the year, while a Special Circumstances Reserve has been established to respond to urgent community needs and emerging opportunities.
