Hearing loss can subtly steal moments of connection, joy, and participation in life. At A Better Ear, we often encounter locals who have lived with this challenge, unaware of the advancements in hearing aid technology that could transform their daily experiences.

In this week’s column, I’d like to share Jacqui’s story, a participant in our pilot study to test the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) hearing aids.

Our audiologist Amanda Ariotti fitted Jacqui with Starkey’s new Genesis AI hearing aids, and the results after just 14 days exceeded all expectations.

“The clarity of sounds is extraordinary,” Jacqui said. “Even in noisy environments, I can hear conversations clearly, and background noises no longer compete with speech.”

The natural speech distinction feature of these aids enhances users’ ability to understand conversations, making social interactions more intuitive and enjoyable.

The advancements in AI technology have made hearing aids like the Genesis AI more effective, significantly improving social engagement and daily experiences.

Jacqui noted a remarkable difference compared to her previous high-end hearing aids.

“My partner has noticed a big difference in what I am hearing as well. It would be very difficult for me to go back to my original hearing aids after wearing the Starkeys,” she said.

The improvement comes down to Starkey’s precise sound processing, which reduces unwanted noise and preserves the clarity of essential sounds.

Jacqui also highlighted the benefits of switching from traditional batteries to the rechargeable model.

“I’m more comfortable with the safety and convenience of rechargeable aids, especially with my little grandchildren around,” she said.

At A Better Ear, we prioritise patient-centred care and clinical integrity, focusing on adult and senior hearing rehabilitation.

Our local family-owned clinic delivers expertise with empathy, ensuring that each person who comes through the doors receives a solution tailored to their unique needs.

This approach gets better, more reliable results.

Jacqui’s openness to new technology proved life-changing.

“The change has been quite extraordinary for me. I have always felt burdened by wearing my aids but knew

I needed to for my health, social, and safety needs,” she said.

“With Starkey Genesis AI, I am happy to wear these aids all day.”

If you or a loved one is struggling with their hearing, consider scheduling a consultation with us at A Better Ear. Discover how the latest technology can enhance your quality of life, just as it did for Jacqui. Our team is here to support you on your journey to better hearing.
