POLICE are investigating two separate incidents in Brisbane’s Bayside, including a fatal traffic crash in Capalaba and the resolution of an appeal over an indecent act on a Wynnum train.

Around 3am on October 1, a black Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle travelling east on Duncan Road struck the rear of a semi-trailer that was stationary at roadworks traffic lights near the Redland Bay Road intersection.

The rider, a 42-year-old Runcorn man, died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 41-year-old Bellbowrie man, was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision to come forward.

The Queensland Police Service said the tragedy highlights the importance of avoiding the “Fatal Five” causes of crashes – speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.

Meanwhile, police have charged a man after an appeal for public assistance in relation to an indecent act committed on a train travelling from Wynnum to Hemmant on September 18.

Between 8.50am and 9.30am, witnesses reported seeing a man board the train at Wynnum and allegedly commit an indecent act before disembarking at Hemmant.

Police released a public appeal on September 30, and in a direct response, a member of the public contacted officers after sighting the man in Wynnum shortly before 1pm on October 1.

Responding officers took him into custody.

A 35-year-old River Ranch man has been charged with one count of indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access.

He is expected to appear before Wynnum Magistrates Court on October 20.

Police thanked media and the public for their assistance.

Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact Policelink online at police.qld.gov.au/reporting or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.
