WHEN it comes to fish and chips, too many venues rely on nostalgia rather than quality.

But this seafood spot is proof that the classics can be elevated without losing their charm.

The Seafood Platter for Two comes with a vibrant Greek salad on the side – an absolute standout at Sea Fuel Cleveland.

Big, juicy chunks of tomato, crisp cucumber, and red onion topped with generous slabs of feta, drizzled in olive oil, and finished with a sprinkle of oregano.

Light, refreshing and perfectly balanced, it pairs beautifully with the rich seafood to follow.

The platter itself is a rustic yet elegant feast.

A golden mix of cod, prawns, calamari, baby octopus, scallops and fries arrives steaming hot and irresistibly crisp.

The lightly seasoned crumb coating delivers just the right crunch, enhancing rather than masking the delicate flavours of the seafood.

The fish is flaky, tender, and cooked to absolute perfection.

The prawns and calamari are soft and succulent, while the baby octopus and scallops are cooked just right – sweet, juicy, and worlds away from the “imitation scallops” too often found elsewhere.

Generosity is a theme here.

Portions are substantial, service is warm and efficient, and the venue itself is spotlessly clean and stylishly presented, with a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger.

Even during the Saturday lunch rush, staff remain attentive and cheerful, ensuring guests were well looked after.

For those who prefer a beachside picnic, takeaway is just as impressive.

The fish and chips tastes as good on the sand as they would have in-house.

Other menu highlights include the grilled Red Emperor, salt and pepper calamari, and oysters – all cooked with precision, leaving the natural flavours to shine.

This is more than just an other fish and chip shop; it’s a modern reimagining of the genre. With its fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and genuine hospitality, it sets a benchmark others would do well to follow.
