AS OF the end of Term 01, 2024, TRACTION has helped more than 725 Redlands young people coming from schools including Capalaba State College, Victoria Point State High School, Cleveland District State High School, Alexandra Hills State High School and Wellington Point State High School.
These students have benefited from-six of Brisbane’s business community leaders who have officially raised a whopping $1 million through the first BEYOND Cycling Challenge as part of TRACTION’s biggest ever fundraiser.
Surpassing their original $750,000 goal, the money raised will help young people unlock their potential through participation in TRACTION’s much-needed hands on learning and mentoring programs, including its flagship Bike Build program.
The strenuous five-day journey saw the group cover 800km while climbing over 10,000 metres in elevation – 1,100 metres higher than Mt Everest. TRACTION Founder and CEO Sandy Murdoch said: “I’m so grateful to all 36 riders who tirelessly trained for this challenge and pushed beyond both physical and mental demands, our event sponsors and those supporters who have contributed to our first BEYOND Cycling Challenge,” Mr Murdoch said
The funds raised will provide access for more than 250 young people to TRACTION programs across Southeast Queensland, helping them engage in learning and build the resilience and skills they need to thrive.
