SEVERAL community projects and events across Redlands Coast have received a funding boost over the past 12 months, with everything from major festivals and sporting events to koala rescue equipment, Christmas celebrations and suicide-awareness training supported through Redland City Council’s grants program.

The funding, distributed through a range of Council grants over the past 12 months, included major investments in flagship events such as GreazeFest ($35,000), the National School Bike Championships and Festival ($37,750), Redlands Bull Riding ($30,000) and the Queensland Tri Series at Raby Bay ($25,000).

Community infrastructure projects also received a significant boost, with the Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club awarded $72,388 for facility upgrades, Redlands Touch receiving $25,003 for security improvements and Bay Islands United Football Club securing $24,935 to install new fencing.

Community organisations, arts groups, sporting clubs and environmental projects were also among the beneficiaries, with grants helping fund Mount Cotton Christmas in the Park ($15,000), Goompi NAIDOC 2026 ($15,000), the Redland Seniors Expo ($10,905), Quandamooka Wellbeing and Healing ($10,500), Koala Rescue Redlands’ vital rescue equipment ($9,978), Ocean Crusaders Bay Islands Clean Up ($10,000), the Redlands Coast Hall of Fame and Sports Awards ($10,000), and rapid-response initiatives, including United Community Services’ suicide-alertness training ($3,000).

Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the funding aimed to strengthen community connections while supporting events and services that improved quality of life across the city.

“Council’s grants program aims to help the community deliver events that enhance the vibrancy of our region and provide services to support the wellbeing of people of all ages and abilities,” Cr Talty said.

“It also aligns with Council’s strategic direction of building strong communities through initiatives and events that generate a sense of community connection, pride and inclusion.”

Cr Talty said grants ranged from $500 rapid response grants for urgent community needs through to $60,000 for major multi-year signature events.

“All projects and events that have received funding help to enhance both the diversity and quality of community facilities, services, programs and community-based events across Redlands Coast,” she said.

The next round of Council grants is now open, with funding available for signature events, community celebrations, support programs, infrastructure projects and rapid-response community needs throughout the 2026-27 financial year.

Information about Council’s grants program, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, is available on Council’s Grants and sponsorship webpage.
