The Share the Dignity school program has hit a milestone, with more than 100,000 period packs being distributed to schools across the state since the initiative was launched in 2022.

Several Redlands high schools – including Victoria Point, Wellington Point and Alexandra Hills – have benefitted from the partnership between Queensland charity Share the Dignity and the state government.

The partnership also provides access to the educational program Period Talk, which helps remove any misplaced stigma around menstruation.

A total of 147 Dignity Vending Machines have now been installed.

Education Minister Grace Grace said access to period products should never be a barrier to learning.

“I am thrilled we have hit this milestone: 100,000 period product packs have been given to thousands of students right across our state,” she said.

“That’s 100,000 times students didn’t have to worry about sorting out tampons and pads and could concentrate on being at school instead.

“With the price of period products running into hundreds of dollars a year per person, this is important cost of living relief too.”
