CARMEL College at Thornlands has welcomed its newest Year 7 students with a rare and heart-warming milestone — six sets of twins starting secondary school together.
The Year 7 cohort of 210 students officially began classes on Wednesday, January 28, but it was the arrival of 12 twin students that doubled the excitement across the campus.
From identical pairs to fraternal siblings, the twins are believed to be one of the largest groups to start together in a single year level at the College.
Carmel College Principal Stephen Adair said the moment was a special one for the school community.
“From identical duos to fraternal siblings, the 12 students are already making history at the College,” Mr Adair said.
“It’s not every day that you see so many pairs of twins start in one cohort.
“It’s a wonderful way to begin the school year and something our whole community is enjoying.”
The twins were all smiles as they met and greeted classmates on their first day, many sharing a mix of excitement and nerves as they embarked on the next chapter of their education side by side.
Carmel College, located on Ziegenfusz Road in Thornlands, is expecting a vibrant and energetic year ahead as the new cohort settles into secondary school life.
The unique milestone has also created a memorable photo opportunity, with all 12 students captured together in their new uniforms — a snapshot of a first day few schools experience.
