Wynnum-Manly will this weekend chase another trophy to display at BMD Kougari Oval when their Mal Meninga Cup side takes on the Townsville Blackhawks in the Grand Final on Saturday.
Following on from the club’s superb Cyril Connell Cup campaign that saw the Under-17 side win the Premiership, Wynnum earned their spot in the Under-19 season decider with a 22-14 win over their NSW namesakes, the Tweed Seagulls at the weekend.
The stand-outs for Wynnum included halfback Payton Gifford, fullback Nate Wallin, forwards Harry Bath and Oscar Donovan and winger Bond Bradley who scored a hat-trick for the bayside Seagulls.
Coach Mat Cameron will marshal his troops for the 2pm Grand Final at Kayo Stadium at Redcliffe which will showcase some of Queensland’s most talented pathway players.
This Sunday’s action at Kourgari Oval will feature the Wynnum-Manly Hostplus Cup side taking on the Norths Devils from 3pm.
Norths won the past two matches against Wynnum last season, but the Seagulls have put together impressive back-to-back wins in recent weeks and sit just a point outside eighth spot.
The Wynnum-Manly Seagulls BMD Premiership women’s team will also be in action on Sunday from 1pm when they play a trial against the NRLW Brisbane Broncos side.
