The young boxer has now returned home having learned from elite athletes and coaches, with the experience strengthening his enthusiasm for the next stage of his boxing journey.

Meanwhile, Neon Boxing Academy has celebrated a clean sweep at this year’s Queensland Elite State Titles, with its fighters claiming victories across three divisions after three days of intense competition against some of the state’s best athletes.

Gene “The Machine” Keremete claimed the 65kg division, Kipa “Tha Ripa” Keremete took out the 70kg division and Luke “The Maddest Dog” Morrison won the 75kg division.

David “Young Dave” Logan was also named Masters State Champion after his final opponent withdrew due to injury, earning a walkover and a place in the Boxing Queensland team.

The academy’s focus now turns to the National Titles at the AIS at the end of November.

Neon Boxing Academy will also have a major presence at the Redland Coast Sporting Hall of Fame awards, with six members nominated for honours.

Gene Keremete is in contention for Sportsman of the Year, Zahara Lane for Sportswoman of the Year, David Logan for Masters of the Year, Leon Lay for Coach of the Year, Nat McGregor for Volunteer of the Year and Karina Lay for Administrator of the Year.
