A RECORD field of Redlands Coast sporting talent, volunteers and clubs is in the running for honours at this year’s Redlands Coast Sporting Hall of Fame and Sporting Awards.

The finalists have now been announced across 10 award categories following 64 nominations – a 35 per cent increase on last year – for the October 17 celebration at Sheldon Event Centre.
Awards organiser Pat Carroll said the depth and diversity of nominations highlighted the strength of sport across the Redlands.
“It’s important to recognise the Redlands as a place where you can become the best athlete in your chosen sport,” he said.
“It shows that you can achieve your goals here in the Redlands.”
The awards recognise the people behind local sporting success as well as standout athletes, with volunteers, administrators, officials, coaches and organisations all in contention.
A new Masters Athlete of the Year category has also been introduced for 2026 recognising competitors aged 50 and over.
Several past winners are again among the finalists including Neon Boxing Academy coach Leon Lay, Redlands Touch official Matt Lavery, sportsman Gene Keremete and emerging athlete Georgia Harris.
The Hall of Fame induction remains the evening’s highest honour.
A maximum of two people can be inducted each year, although the selection panel can choose to induct one person – or none – depending on the strength of nominations.
Sydney 2000 Olympic beach volleyball gold medallist Natalie Cook will be guest speaker at the event.
State Member for Redlands Rebecca Young will speak about the opportunities the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games could bring to local sporting clubs.
Cleveland Air Magic Skippers will also perform during the evening, adding a showcase of local sporting talent to the awards program.
