Personal touch still paramount

AFTER four decades in real estate, Jackie Prentis believes the fundamentals of the industry have not changed – people want experience, honest advice and someone they can trust with their property.

The real estate industry has changed dramatically during the past 40 years.

Property advertising has moved from newspaper classifieds to online platforms, digital marketing has transformed the way homes are promoted, and technology has changed how property transactions and rentals are managed.

But for Jackie Prentis of 5 Star Real Estate Agent, one thing has remained constant throughout.

“People still want to deal with people,” Jackie says.

With 40 years of experience in real estate, Jackie has seen significant changes in the property industry and worked with generations of buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants.

Today, she brings that experience to two key areas of the market – property sales and property management.

Four decades in real estate provides more than knowledge of property transactions. It provides perspective.

Markets rise and fall, buyer expectations change and different approaches to selling and managing property come and go.

Through those changes, Jackie has developed a strong belief in the importance of communication and understanding what each client is trying to achieve.

For sellers, that means looking beyond simply placing a property on the market.

Every property has its own story, and every seller has different circumstances.

Preparing a property for sale, establishing an appropriate marketing strategy, communicating with prospective buyers and negotiating offers all require an understanding of the individual situation.

Jackie believes sellers should be kept informed throughout the process and given straightforward advice about their property and the market.

The same philosophy extends to property management.

For landlords, an investment property can be an important part of their financial future, but managing a rental also comes with ongoing responsibilities.

Tenant communication, inspections, maintenance, rent collection and the day-to-day administration of a property all require attention.

Jackie’s 40 years in the industry give her a broad understanding of the relationship between property owners, tenants and the agent responsible for managing the investment.

“Every property is different, and every owner is different,” she says.

“It’s about understanding what matters to them and making sure they are kept informed.”

Having both sales and property management services within 5 Star Real Estate Agent also allows Jackie to work with clients through different stages of their property journey.

A homeowner may first meet Jackie when considering selling, while an investor may require ongoing management of a rental property.

Circumstances can change, too. A homeowner can become a landlord, an investor may eventually decide to sell, or a landlord may purchase another property that requires management.

Having an agent who understands both sides of the industry provides continuity.

Technology may have transformed real estate, but Jackie says the fundamentals remain much the same.

Listen to the client. Understand the property. Communicate clearly. And do what you say you will do.

After 40 years in the industry, those principles continue to underpin Jackie’s approach to real estate.

5 Star Real Estate Agent offers the experience of an agent who has spent four decades learning the business.
