ASH’S Appetite took a citrus-charged turn this week, landing on a standout contender that easily earned its spot at the top.
After a visit to Craft Brewhouse in Birkdale, it was clear this week’s pick was simply a solid, satisfying choice that delivered on both flavour and atmosphere.
The venue had a lively feel on Thursday night as the team prepared for their upcoming trivia event.
Even with the busyness, the owners and staff remained welcoming and attentive, maintaining a relaxed environment that reflects the pride they take in the space.
The warm decor and light displays added to the overall experience, giving the venue a distinct character that stands out among local spots.
The oven-baked lemon pepper wings were the reason for the visit, and the reason Craft Brewhouse claimed this week’s win.
Having never tried that flavour before, it immediately made an impression.
The owner mentioned it was her favourite, and the dish lived up to that endorsement.
The portion size was generous, large enough to make finishing the plate a genuine challenge, and the chicken itself was well cooked, tender and clearly good quality.
A few charcoal kissed edges added an extra layer of flavour that elevated the dish even further.
The seasoning was where the wings truly excelled.
Both the lemon and the pepper were distinctly noticeable, balanced so neither dominated the other.
The result was a bright, savoury profile that felt fresh, well executed and different from the usual wing flavours found around the region.
Overall, there was very little to criticise.
Strong portions, great quality, friendly staff and a venue with personality all contributed to a standout experience.
Although, if you do want to try their wings, it could be best to go on a Wednesday when they have their special deal happening!
Craft Brewhouse earns a confident 9/10 this week.
