Redland City FC has opened a canteen at its Donald Road home ground this year as the club continues to expand.

After being named the 2021 Brisbane Football Club of the Year and the QIF men’s side taking out the 2021 premiership, Redland City FC numbers have increased significantly.

Establishing the club in 2020, Redland City FC launched their debut season with only 40 members.

However, the club entered the 2023 season with 290 members involved in their under eight to senior teams, with an additional 60 members in their under five to seven sessions on Saturday mornings.

With the increase of local soccer stars at Redland City FC, the club opened a canteen earlier this year.

Club president Tim Eady said the canteen and supplies had been sponsored by Redlands MP Kim Richards to offset the cost of purchasing food on a weekly basis.

“Our canteen has certainly improved our amenities in the club, in terms of what we can offer to our members on a weekly basis,” he said.

“With our coffee van and canteen open on Saturdays, there is no reason for parents to drop their kids and leave.”

Redland City has plenty of opportunities for everyone to play the game.

“In the last couple of years we have been able to increase senior numbers to have four senior men teams and we also have a senior ladies’ team that is in the middle of their second year now,” Eady said.

“We even have a club member that is looking to potentially start a walking football team at some point next year.”

Eady said the club had a community focus and was committed to providing a fun and enjoyable environment.

“It is all about getting kids out from behind devices and also giving adults the opportunity to de-stress a bit from working life,” he said.

Registrations for the ages five to seven Redland City term three program are now open and can be found on the club’s Facebook page.
