REDLANDS athletes have delivered a standout performance on the national stage, with two locals crowned champions and another securing a personal best podium finish at the Australian Athletics Championships 2026.

Sprinter Georgia Harris surged to gold in the women’s 100m, clocking 11.50 seconds to claim the national title in emphatic fashion.

The former Sheldon College student produced a composed run in the final to cap off a strong campaign, confirming her place among the country’s fastest rising sprint talents.

Harris was last year named as Emerging Athlete of the Year at the Redlands Coast Sporting Hall of Fame and Sporting Awards.

In the men’s 400m, Reece Holder – a 2024 Olympian who began his journey at Redlands Little Athletics – powered home to secure his first national title.

Holder’s victory marks a major milestone in his career, adding a national crown to his growing list of achievements on the track.

Adding to the region’s success, Kyle Bennett delivered a breakthrough performance to claim silver in the 400m hurdles, setting a new personal best in the process.

Our youngest Redlander to compete in these Open athletics nationals, Jake Hambrook-Smith, is just 15 and contesting the high jump, marking his first Open nationals ahead of a week of junior nationals.

The trio’s results capped a brilliant weekend for Redlands competitors, highlighting the strength of local athletics pathways and the region’s ability to produce elite-level talent.
