IT’S a massive month ahead for Neon Boxing Academy, with athletes preparing to represent the Redlands at national and international competitions.

On October 11, a strong team will head to the First Nations Boxing Championships, with several athletes making their amateur boxing debuts.

Representing the gym will be Koby Garland, Ben McKillop, and Samuel Law, all stepping into the ring for the first time, alongside Liam Crofts, James Heathcote, and Kipa “Tha Ripa” Keremete, who bring experience and leadership to the lineup.

The event is set to be a powerful display of emerging and established talent from across the country.

Later in the month, from October 21-24, Neon’s Masters team – Sarah O’Shea, Susan Marais, Donna Weston, and David Logan – will travel to Canberra for the Masters Games, representing Queensland and proving that strength, courage and competitiveness are timeless.

Adding to the excitement, Gene Keremete has once again been selected to represent Australia at the World Boxing Tammer Tournament in Finland (October 31 – November 3) – a prestigious international event that showcases some of the best amateur boxers in the world.

Behind the gloves, community spirit continues to shine through Neon’s not-for-profit arm, Punch with Purpose, which recently hosted a Bingo Night fundraiser at The Link, YMCA that drew more than 100 attendees.

The night raised vital funds to support the athletes’ travel and competition costs, with guests bidding in the auction of signed gloves from elite boxers Luke Morrison, Gene Keremete, Kipa Keremete and Patrick Miethke.

The auction was led by Jordan Rosenthal of Elders Real Estate, Redlands, one of Neon’s key sponsors, and his energy and generosity helped drive a successful night.

Community support continues through Grill’d at Victoria Point Local Matters program, where every burger token placed in the Punch with Purpose jar contributes to funding the Masters team’s trip to Canberra.

With packed competition schedules, athletes of all ages and experience levels stepping up, and the community behind them every step of the way, Neon Boxing Academy continues to prove it’s not just building champions – it’s building a movement.
