LOOKING for a way to add more fun, friendship, and variety to your retirement?

The Capalaba Probus Club might be just what you’re after – open to retirees and semi-retirees, the club offers a packed calendar of activities and events designed to keep you social, active and inspired.

With something for every interest, members can take part in long-running groups or try new experiences as they pop up.

The Garden Group meets monthly, hosting expert guest speakers on everything from bonsais to geraniums, and members even get their hands dirty building whimsical fairy gardens and fragrant herb beds.

The Craft Group gathers at a member’s home each month, turning their talents into beanies, scarves, aprons and rugs that are donated to hospitals and aged care centres.

For those who prefer a relaxed catch-up, there’s always Coffee and Chat at local cafes, while film buffs keep up with the latest releases at the cinema. The Theatre Group takes in a wide variety of shows at both RPAC and QPAC, from ballet to popular music.

Active members can join the weekly Walking Group to explore the region’s scenery before enjoying a well-earned coffee, or embrace a bit of friendly competition with games twice a week at the Capalaba Sports Club.

The club also embraces fresh ideas, with new activities like Trivia Competitions and a Book Swap Table gaining plenty of fans.

Outings are member-driven and range from bus tours and museum visits to leisurely lunches in local parks.

Upcoming highlights include a Melbourne Cup lunch, a modern country music night, Halloween putt putt, and barefoot bowls.

Capalaba Probus meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) at the Capalaba Sports Club, 113 Ney Rd. Doors open at 10am for a 10.30am start, with a $5 entry fee covering morning tea, lucky door prizes, and a guest speaker.
