Well, since the Federal Budget, there is a lot more to think about.

If you are getting close to retirement, should the new rules go through, there is a lot more now to do to evaluate your position. It appears that apart from what we’re told in the press, there are a lot more little things that may affect us into the future.

Seniors mainly care about maintaining independence, financial security, health and social connection. But often in today’s fast-changing world, there are many things that weigh on our mind, these often have some effect on the way we live and the way we look at our situation.

Our health is probably our No.1 consideration. As one gets older, one realises that our health should be our main driver. Living well should be our main aim in life. Many of us may regret some of the things we’ve done in the past.

Many have maybe over- indulged, have smoked, or are now overweight and now regret some decisions made when we were younger.

But the good news is that often these regrets can be “undone”, changing our lifestyle to allow us the ability to negotiate the many years ahead.

Many seniors in aged care homes, to beat the boredom of a 24-hour day.

Living in a village situation and being new to this type of living, brings us in close proximity to others of a similar age, however although there is much to do and plenty of variety in social clubs, there is always somebody that you can’t seem to get on with, no matter how hard you try.

Fortunately you can bond with others who you’ve grown to like, mixing in different circles, relying on these friendships makes for a happy existence.
