RAMSAY Health Care’s new $16 million day hospital is set to reshape surgical care in the Redlands, with the Cleveland facility bringing artificial intelligence enabled procedures to the region for the first time.
After opening on August 17, the Ramsay Surgical Centre Cleveland marks a major expansion of specialist services across the Redlands Coast, giving local patients access to procedures that previously required a trip into the city.
The purpose-built hospital on Middle St features three operating theatres, with room for a fourth, and offers onsite
pathology, radiology and a general practice clinic.
It will deliver day surgery across a wide range of specialties including endoscopy, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, urology, oral and maxillofacial surgery and gynaecology.
More than 25 specialists from Greenslopes Private Hospital will also consult and operate at the new centre, bringing the expertise of one of Queensland’s leading private hospitals directly to the Redlands.
For many locals, it means shorter travel times, faster access to care and treatment delivered closer to home.
One of the hospital’s most significant additions is its AI- enabled endoscopy technology.
The new Olympus EVIS X1 system uses artificial intelligence to help specialists detect lesions during procedures, improving accuracy and early diagnosis.
Next generation Mindray anaesthesia machines will also support advanced monitoring throughout surgery.
Chief Executive Officer Justin Greenwell said the investment was designed to keep pace with the needs of a rapidly growing community.
“We’re proud to be bringing not only more surgical services to the Redlands, but also some of the latest technology available,” he said.
“By investing in AI technology and next generation equipment, we’re ensuring local patients can access the same advanced care available at major metropolitan hospitals, without needing to travel into Brisbane.”
Mr Greenwell said the centre would support local specialists to care for more patients in a modern, purpose-built environment, strengthening Ramsay Health Care’s network across Queensland.
