Redland City News staff visited the bay islands last week to spread the word about the city’s new local paper and hear from islanders about the most important issues in their community.

Publisher David Johnston and editor Jordan Crick made the short barge trip over to Russell and Macleay islands last Thursday for a catch-up with residents, business owners and community groups.

Several issues were discussed during the outing, including the need for public transport improvements, a lack of short-term accommodation on the islands and parking issues at Weinam Creek.

Redland City News wants to hear from islanders about events happening in their community and the challenges facing the islands as the population continues to increase.

To get in touch with a story tip or to have an event published in the paper’s weekly ‘What’s On’ guide, email [email protected].

Be sure to include full details about the event, including the location, date, time and ticket booking link (if applicable).

Readers can also send a letter to the editor about a topical local issue

Remember to include your full name, suburb and a phone number.
