WYNNUM Wolves Football Club proudly joined the state-wide celebrations for Female Football Week (FFW) 2025, hosting a series of inspiring events to honour the invaluable contributions of women and girls to the beautiful game.

The annual initiative highlights the vital role females play at all levels of football – from grassroots through to elite pathways.

At Wynnum Wolves, the week provided an opportunity to amplify the voices of our female players, particularly spotlighting teams and individuals who may not always receive the recognition they deserve.

Throughout the week, the club’s social media channels featured stories from across the women’s program, shining a light on the passion and commitment of players both on and off the pitch.

The weekend’s junior fixtures offered a unique opportunity for senior players from the FQPL 3 Women’s team to connect with the next generation of female Wolves.

Many juniors proudly donned the club jersey for the first time, cheered on by their older role models in a display of community and mentorship.

FFW celebrations culminated on Mother’s Day Sunday with a special FQPL 3 Women’s home fixture, which also served as Football Queensland’s Match of the Round, and was broadcast live.

In a touching pre-match tribute to football’s family connections, players walked onto the pitch together with their mums – creating a heart-warming moment for all in attendance.

On the field, Wynnum Wolves claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over South United in a tightly contested Round 11 clash.

Goals came courtesy of Penelope Koviou, Khelistar Murray, and Mikayla Coates, sealing a fitting end to a week celebrating the strength, spirit, and skill of female footballers.
