A TEENAGER from Victoria Point has earned national acclaim for his exceptional leadership and initiative.

Cadet Sergeant Aiden Foster, 16, from the 136 Army Cadet Unit (ACU) based in Alexandra Hills, was awarded the Australian Defence Youth Program’s highest honour – a Gold Commendation.

The commendation recognises Cadet Sergeant Foster’s significant contribution to the national cadet training continuum, following his development of a new youth training package that has been formally adopted by National Headquarters AAC in Canberra.

Aiden, who has been a member of the Australian Army Cadets since the age of 13, independently conducted the full appreciation, drafting, presentation and submission of the training package.

“I feel really honoured to be nominated, let alone receive the Gold Commendation,” he said.

The proposal was described as nothing short of exceptional and will now be implemented across the broader Defence Force Youth Development Program.

Aiden’s family was present to see him receive the prestigious award from National Commander of the Australian Army Cadets, Brigadier David McCammon, and South Queensland Assistant Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Stowell.

Officer Commanding 136 ACU, Captain Paul Golle, praised Aiden’s efforts.

“Cadet Sergeant Aiden Foster was commended nationally for his outstanding initiative and dedication in developing a cadet training package to benefit teens across Australia,” Capt Golle said.

“His achievements reflect exceptional leadership and have significantly enhanced youth training and development at a national level.”
