LOCALLY based Freemasons have combined forces with not-for-profit charity Friends with Dignity, rallying the community to donate new children’s pyjamas as a part of their annual Pyjama Drive.

Throughout April, the drive aimed to collect new pyjamas for babies, children and teens impacted by domestic and family violence, many of whom arrive at shelters and crisis accommodation with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.

Capalaba resident Shane Kelley, a member of Camp Hill Lodge Freemasons, said the initiative was all about helping children who have been through incredibly tough situations stay warm and cosy throughout this winter.

“It’s a small gesture that can make a big difference, and we’re proud to be part of it,” Mr Kelley said.

He has already received 150-plus pairs of pyjamas and a cheque for approximately $5000 that he will pass on to the Friends with Dignity charity.

“Charity and community service are central to Freemasonry,” Mr Kelley said.

“This drive reflects the values we hold dear – compassion, respect, and a commitment to improving the lives of others.”

Friends with Dignity is a national volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation that provides practical support to individuals and families fleeing domestic violence.
