IN an extraordinary effort, dedicated staff from the Redlands-based Sharkies club have completed an incredible 48-hour charity walk, raising a staggering $16,581 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The event, known as Laps for Leukaemia 2025, saw Sharkies staff take on the gruelling challenge of walking continuously for two days and nights – through torrential rain, sore muscles, and countless blisters –without once losing their determination or smiles.

With a total of 835 laps walked, equating to over 350km, the official lap count doesn’t even scratch the surface of the collective effort.

Thousands of additional laps, hundreds of thousands of steps, and an unwavering sense of camaraderie defined the weekend.

The event attracted support from across the region, with sponsors and community members turning out in force.

Special thanks were extended to Pinnacle Project Solutions, Redlands RL Old Boys, CUB, Springwood Lions, Meat Addiction, City Property Services, BayFM, and Redland City Council, as well as partners like Naturally Cooked Sunscreen, Totally WorkWear, and the Sharks Softball Club.

Notable guests included State Member for Redlands Rebecca Young, Councillor Lance Hewlett, members of the Cleveland Police, and representatives from the Leukaemia Foundation, including David Hancock, who walked alongside the team and received the donation cheque personally.

The funds raised will go directly to supporting Australians living with leukaemia, funding research, and providing critical services to families in need.
