THERE are a variety of mobility vehicles available to assist seniors and individuals with disabilities in maintaining independence and improving quality of life.

These vehicles range from motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters to modified accessible vehicles, each designed to cater to specific mobility needs.

Types of Mobility Vehicles

  1. Motorised wheelchairs: Designed for individuals with limited mobility, motorised wheelchairs offer enhanced manoeuvrability and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

They are particularly beneficial for those who require assistance with daily activities and have limited upper body strength.
  2. Mobility scooters: These are ideal for individuals who can manage some physical activity but need assistance over longer distances.

Mobility scooters come in various models, including compact versions for easy transport and larger
models equipped with advanced features for extended travel.
  3. Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicles (WAVs): For those who require transportation while remaining in their wheelchair, WAVs are modified vehicles that accommodate wheelchairs securely.
