THE Redlands District University of the Third Age (U3A) has received a major boost with the announcement of a $500,000 commitment to establish a new “community hub” to complement its recently completed purpose-built centre in Cleveland.

Federal Member for Bowman Henry Pike revealed that, should a Coalition Government be elected at this year’s Federal Election, the funding will be directed towards creating additional facilities to support U3A’s growing demand for lifelong learning and social interaction programs.

U3A Redlands, which already plays a vital role in offering seniors affordable educational and social opportunities, has been a cornerstone of the local community.

The new community hub will provide space for additional classes, events, and social activities, allowing the organisation to further enhance its offerings for the region’s senior population.

“This is about empowering our seniors to stay engaged, active, and socially connected,” Mr Pike said. “The new hub will help U3A Redlands expand its reach, providing a space where people can learn, interact, and enrich their lives.”

The $500,000 funding follows an earlier $250,000 contribution from the State Government, which helped fund the completion of the centre in Cleveland.

The combined investment reflects growing recognition of the important role U3A plays in fostering community engagement and well-being among seniors.

U3A Redlands president Jean Martin is excited about the announcement, saying the community hub will enhance the organisation’s ability to meet the increasing demand for its programs.

“This investment will ensure U3A Redlands can continue to offer quality programs and social opportunities to seniors in the region, helping them to live life to the fullest,” she said.
