WELCOME in the new year with the ABC’s annual New Year’s Eve concert and fireworks celebration on Tuesday, December 31 from 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.

In partnership with the City of Sydney, and broadcasting live from the Sydney Opera House’s Northern Boardwalk from 8.30pm, NYE24 hosts Charlie Pickering, Zan Rowe and Concetta Caristo are back to help you count down to the midnight fireworks and welcome 2025 with a bang (with input from Dr Karl on how those fireworks actually work!)

A live performance and beautiful animations projected on the Harbour Bridge will combine for the Calling Country performance, curated by triple j Blak Out host, Nooky.

The original song will call for Australians to move forward, together, leading with heart, and capture the spirit of Barangaroo – a Cammeraygal fisherwomen whose story has shaped Australian culture across generations. The song will lead into the much-anticipated 9pm Calling Country fireworks.

From 9.10pm, the audience has front row seats to the New Year’s Eve concert featuring an impressive lineup of artists including Australian supergroup Fanning Dempsey National Park (Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey), the Queen of New Year’s Eve Casey Donovan and 2024’s No.1 hit maker Cyril.

As part of the celebrations, the ABC will also kick off triple j’s 50th year by featuring some classic Hottest 100 songs and hearing from some iconic triple j hosts.

Then at midnight, the Sydney’s world-famous fireworks display will light up Sydney’s Harbour Bridge, Opera House and surrounds, bidding a dazzling farewell to 2024 and welcoming 2025.

ABC’s head of arts, music and events Kath Earle said: “New Year’s Eve is a night that has it all – fireworks, live music, stunning visuals, spectacular lighting, and the best entertainment – and we love working together with our partner City of Sydney to bring this celebration to people across Australia and all around the world.”

The NYE 2024 concert will broadcast across the entire ABC network including ABC TV and streamed live on ABC iview and across ABC socials.

The concert will also be broadcast on ABC Local Radio, from 9pm AEDT.
