Locals and visitors from across south-east Queensland turned up in good numbers to the Welcome Back Shorebirds festival at GJ Walter Park on Saturday.

Attendees enjoyed a day of music, art, entertainment and watching the newly arrived shorebirds from Alaska and Siberia through long range telescopes.

It was a perfect Redlands day and a wonderful coastal setting for visitors to kick back and enjoy the natural environment at GJ Walter Park in Cleveland on the shores of Moreton Bay.

The annual event was organised by the Toondah Alliance, a group of local and national community and environmental groups.

Guests included Gardening Australia’s Hannah Moloney, Uncle Norm Enoch, First nations singer/songwriter Joe Geia and writer Melissa Lucashenko.
