AS the Redlands community prepares to celebrate its fourth Diwali – our wonderful Festival of Light – the event has also organically become a showcase for beautiful traditional fashion.

The chance for everyone to dress up and bling up genuinely lights up the festival from the ground up.

The wider community’s respectful participation through colourful and fashionable outfits adds to Diwali’s grace, elegance and sparkle.

It sparks positive conversations and strengthens the harmony of our growing multicultural city in the most fashionable way.

This year, I encourage the ladies to step outside their usual wardrobe and give it a go.

Between us, we have so many saris in every colour that we can share – phone me on 0427 734 214.

When I wear a sari, I feel like a princess.

They are easy to wear, look and feel amazing, and attract enormous admiration.

Sharing cultural traditions through gorgeous fashion enhances the experience and adds to what is already a well-established, fun community event.

The behind-the-scenes work needed to bring Diwali to life should never be underestimated.

From the big stage setup and presentations to the abundance of amazing food choices and the festival site itself, much preparation goes into the celebration.

We could not share this culturally significant event with the community without the leadership and generous support of the Capalaba Bulldogs Football Club, which so genuinely demonstrates its broader community spirit.

Redland City Council’s vital support through a Community Events Grant is also greatly appreciated.

My heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved in delivering this wonderful festival.

Every person is a volunteer, and you can only imagine the authentic aroma of the many spices that will surround us – unless, of course, you join us.

So, on Saturday, I look forward to sharing plenty of fun as we dance, eat and celebrate together.

It will be a chance to thank and recognise everyone who has worked so hard to bring such a significant multicultural community event to life.

The evening will conclude with a captivating fireworks display.

Now, what to wear this year…
