REDLANDS Coast residents are being urged to shine a spotlight on the volunteers, leaders and community champions making a difference, with nominations for the 2027 Australia Day Awards closing soon.
Redland City Council is seeking nominations for individuals, groups and organisations whose work has strengthened the community either during the past year or over a sustained period.
Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the annual awards were an opportunity to recognise the often-unsung people who gave their time, talent and care to others.
“Every day there are people in our community who go above and beyond to support others, volunteer their time or achieve excellence in their field,” Cr Talty said.
Awards will be presented for Citizen of the Year, Organisation of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and the Community Spirit Award.
Citizen of the Year is open to individuals while Organisation of the Year recognises an organisation.
Senior Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged 65 or over, and Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be 26 or under.
The Community Spirit Award can recognise either an individual or organisation.
Nominations close at 11.59pm on Sunday, November 1.
