MORE than 50 ecofriendly stalls, hands-on workshops, live music and family activities will feature at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre this weekend as the popular Eco Markets return.
The markets will be held at the Capalaba centre on Saturday offering residents a chance to support local businesses while exploring practical ways to live more sustainably.
Redland City Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the bushland setting made the event a popular day out for families and nature lovers.
“There is always so much to see and do at the Eco Markets, which are set within the native bushland surrounds at IndigiScapes,” Cr Talty said.
“There will be more than 50 eco market stalls, including several new exhibitors, as well as upcycled clothing pop-ups, live entertainment and a variety of food vans.
“The IndigiScapes native plant nursery, gift shop, discovery centre and café will also all be open.”
Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie said the program included activities for children, entertainment and workshops designed to help adults make better use of plants in their own homes and gardens.
“There will be live music in the gardens, a nature scavenger hunt and nature trail walks,” Cr McKenzie said.
“Children’s wildlife author Samantha Wheeler will be attending with copies of her new book The Lost Island, and BayFM will be broadcasting live for its G’day it’s Saturday show.
“For children, there will be an opportunity to recycle cardboard into ‘threatened fauna’ puppets, as well as flora and fauna face painting, messy play and big backyard play.
“Adults will be able to book a spot in handson workshops exploring practical uses of native and introduced plants.”
The Eco Markets will be held at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, 17 Runnymede Rd, Capalaba, from 8am to noon on Saturday.
