ASH’S Appetite signs off this week with a full circle finish, the very first winner of the series has also taken out the final crown.

After a week of reader votes, taste tests and passionate debates from locals, Sea Fuel Cleveland has claimed the title of Best Seafood, closing out the run with a dish that perfectly captures why this spot has remained a community favourite from day one.

It feels fitting, almost poetic, that the place that kicked off this journey is the same one bringing it to an end.

Over the weeks, Ash’s Appetite has taken me across the Redlands and Bayside, introduced me to hidden gems, and connected me with readers who care deeply about their food scene.

Ending at a place so many people championed felt like the right way to wrap things up.

And with that in mind, I went straight for the dish recommended to me by the owner, the fish tacos.

They arrived piled high, battered whiting laid neatly on top, golden and crisp, drizzled with a vibrant red orange sauce that added a tangy, slightly smoky lift.

Beneath the fish was a generous bed of veggies like cabbage, carrot and all the crunchy staples you’d expect from an Asian-style salad mix.

If you’re someone who loves texture and freshness, this taco delivers in spades.

The vegetables weren’t just garnish, they were a proper part of the dish, adding balance and bite.

The whiting itself was cooked beautifully.

Light, crisp batter, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the fish shine.

The atmosphere, the consistency, the friendliness, it all adds up.

Overall, I’d rate this dish 9/10, a strong and satisfying finale for the last week of Ash’s Appetite.

As this chapter wraps up, it’s bittersweet to say goodbye.

This series has been a joy, a weekly adventure shaped by readers, local businesses and great food.

Ending with Sea Fuel feels like closing the loop in the best possible way.
