PUNJAB Curry Club in Wellington Point has officially been voted the region’s most popular destination for a curry this week, a win that reflects both its loyal customer base and the suburb’s growing appetite for quality Indian cuisine.

For Ash’s Appetite, this was easily one of my most anticipated visits yet – curry sits firmly at the top of my personal food pyramid, so expectations were high walking through the door.

The restaurant makes a strong first impression.

Its warm decor, inviting layout, and lively location in the heart of Wellington Point give it an immediate charm.

There’s a steady hum of activity inside, and out, and the staff greet you with the kind of friendliness that sets the tone for a relaxed meal.

I ordered a butter chicken with saffron rice and a side of garlic and cheese naan, a combination that rarely disappoints.

Opting for a medium spice level, I was surprised to find the curry extremely mild.

I can usually handle a decent kick, but this one didn’t offer much heat at all.

That said, the flavour was still rich and comforting, and the portion, while appearing small at first glance, turned out to be more generous than expected.

The garlic and cheese naan were a standout.

Packed with cheese and perfectly warm, it delivered exactly what you want from a naan side of indulgence.

The butter chicken was delicious, creamy, balanced, and full of flavour, but just a hint more heat would have taken it from great to outstanding.

The saffron rice was an ideal companion, adding a gentle floral note that lifted the whole dish and made it little more vibrant.

Overall, Punjab Curry Club lives up to its reputation.

Lovely staff, enjoyable food, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a deserving favourite.

I’d rate this meal an 8/10, a satisfying experience and a spot I’d happily return to, especially with just a little more heat in the curry.
