BAYSIDE Cheer & Dance has punched above its weight on the Queensland stage, returning from the AASCF Battle competition with six gold medals, four Hawaii bids and a haul of 14 podium finishes.
The Redlands’ only dedicated combined cheer and dance studio took 76 athletes across 18 teams to the event, with competitors aged from four to 59.
The locally owned club secured four of the 17 invitations offered to the 2027 Spirit Royale competition in Hawaii – the most awarded to any one gym at the event.
Its teams Impact and Ocean earned at-large bids, Say Something received a partially paid bid, while Anything For Love claimed one of just two fully paid bids on offer.
Bayside’s medal tally included six gold, seven silver and one bronze, with adult teams among the club’s strongest performers.
The Open Coed Level 3 Non-Tumble cheer team reflects the club’s broad appeal, featuring athletes aged from 15 to 43 and two mothers competing alongside their daughters.
The club said its adult program was growing quickly, attracting parents and other athletes juggling work, family commitments and regular training.
Bayside’s youngest competitors – four-year-old tiny cheerleaders – also took to the floor, highlighting the inclusive nature of a sport that can keep athletes involved across generations.
Despite competing against some of Queensland’s largest programs, Bayside Cheer & Dance continues to build a strong reputation for its coaching, culture and community spirit.
