A NEW chapter is set to begin for a growing Thornlands shopping centre, with property group GEON appointed as the new centre manager of Paradise Garden Shopping Village.
The neighbourhood centre will come under GEON’s management from July 1.
The appointment includes responsibility for property and facilities management, leasing, financial services, and marketing coordination.
Owned by Nerinda Pty Ltd ATF Paradise Trust, the 7683sqm centre has become a key local shopping destination since opening two years ago.
It sits on a 6.25-hectare site at the corner of Boundary Road and Panorama Drive, on land formerly home to the well-known Round Shop.
According to architects Cottee Parker, the development was designed to reflect that history, with a modern village layout centred around a circular plaza, surrounded by retail tenancies, food outlets and shaded community spaces.
The centre is anchored by supermarket giant Coles and includes 18 specialty retailers such as Baker’s Delight, BP, Direct Chemist Outlet, Jetts, KFC and Liquorland, alongside local services including medical operator Thornlands Doctors.
The centre also features 400 car parks and 1.4 hectares of green space.
GEON said it intends to focus on strengthening relationships with tenants and supporting the centre’s continued growth.
“We are excited to commence management of the Paradise Garden Shopping Village,” said GEON General Manager Property Management Robert Smith.
“We look forward to working closely with the landlord, retailers and the local community to further enhance the centre’s performance and customer experience.”
“Neighbourhood shopping centres play an important role within their communities, and our focus will be on strengthening retailer relationships, maintaining a high standard of presentation and creating opportunities to drive customer engagement and visitation.
“We see a significant opportunity to build upon the centre’s existing strengths and continue creating a
welcoming and convenient destination for local residents.”
GEON chief executive Dan Moore said the appointment reflected growing confidence in the company’s approach to retail management.
“Our client was seeking a proactive, relationship-focused management approach from a team that understands retail property from both an asset management and ownership perspective,” he said.
“The client also valued the importance GEON places on trust, communication and day-to-day involvement across its managed assets.”
