LAST week readers voted on our social media for their favourite burger in the Redlands and Bayside area, and it was none other than Hashtag Burgers and Waffles in Capalaba.

This turned out to be one of the most unexpectedly nostalgic stops so far in Ash’s Appetite.

If you’re into that classic American smash burger style, this spot is absolutely your playground.

I went for their “Such a Classic” burger, and “smashed to the max” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

The beef patty was spilling out from every side in the best possible way, layered with tomato, red onion, lettuce, cheese, and the standout ingredient: the house made pickle mayo.

That sauce deserves its own fan club. Tangy, creamy, and just a little addictive, it tied everything together and honestly became one of the highlights of the whole meal.

Before going, I checked out some reviews and noticed something surprising, one of their most beloved items wasn’t a burger at all, but the cheesy toast.

As a lifelong nostalgic Sizzler girlie, that immediately caught my attention. And let me tell you, it delivered.

Crunchy, golden, buttery, and not overcooked at all, it’s the closest thing I’ve tasted to those iconic slices from the beloved buffet of our childhoods.

It’s worth the visit on its own. The only thing missing from the burger meal was chips, although you can grab them on the side if you’d like.

I happened to go on a weekday when they ran lunch specials, so I scored my burger for just $10, a win in every sense.

Overall, Hashtag Burgers and Waffles brings something different to the Capalaba food scene. It’s nostalgic, indulgent, and fun, with flavours that feel familiar but still exciting.

For me, it’s a solid 8/10 and a spot worth adding to your burger rotation.

Keep an eye on our socials this week as we roll into our next category: Value Meals.

Drop a comment with your favourite feed that gives serious bang for your buck, I’ll be waiting!
