WORKING at Hungry Jack’s Alexandra Hills has been a 20-year labour of love for Meagan Le Lay and Sean Hennessy, with the pair celebrating the remarkable milestone alongside staff and customers on May 27.
The long-serving dining room attendants marked the occasion with members of the Hungry Jack’s national team, and a large celebratory cake shared with customers.
Both employees secured their roles through Connect2Group and have become familiar and valued faces around the restaurant, helping clear tables, opening doors for customers, assisting elderly patrons and walking orders to waiting cars.
For Ms Le Lay, 39, of Carina, the greatest reward has always been helping people.
“I wanted to be a nurse because I wanted to help people and this is just as good,” she said.
She works three four-hour shifts each week, while Mr Hennessy, 38, of Cleveland works two four-hour shifts.
Mr Hennessy said interacting with customers remained the highlight of the job.
“All of the customers are my favourite. And sometimes they give me a tip for doing a good job,” he said.
The pair even have their own Hungry Jack’s favourites, with Ms Le Lay enjoying the occasional chocolate thick shake while Mr Hennessy opts for a plant-based Whopper “now and again”.
Store manager Tom Lane said the two employees brought very different but equally valued qualities to the workplace.
“Sean is a quiet achiever,” he said. “He has great attention to detail and loves coming to work.
“Meagan is more bubbly and brings the vibe with her enthusiasm. “They are very different but very valued.”
Mr Lane said having Sean and Meagan on staff as dining room hosts made the Alexandra Hills store unique.
“We usually have a staff turnaround of about five years. So, to get someone here for 20 years is special,” he said.
He said the next longest-serving employee at the store was Leigh Robinson, who had been with the business for 16 years.
