CARTER Pearson produced one of the most complete individual performances of the season for Redlands Men’s Second Grade, delivering a match shaping contribution with both bat and ball despite the side ultimately falling short against Gold Coast.
After Redlands were placed under early pressure with the bat and slipped to 5 for 28, Pearson steadied the innings with a display of composure and control well beyond his years.
He anchored the innings with a superb 125, batting deep into the day and providing the stability required to rebuild after a difficult start.
His innings was built on patience and discipline, absorbing pressure before gradually expanding his scoring options as the innings progressed.
Pearson’s knock proved the backbone of the Redlands total of 232 as Tigers fell agonisingly short of Gold Coast’s total.
After coming to the crease at 3/20, his partnership with Jasper Sumner from 7/60 nearly had the team within striking distance.
His ability to manage the tempo of the innings and remain composed under pressure stood out as a defining feature of the performance.
With the ball, Pearson continued to influence the match, producing a decisive spell to claim five wickets.
Bowling with control and consistency, he finished with figures of 5 for 56 from 11.4 overs, striking at key moments to prevent Gold Coast from building decisive partnerships.
His ability to apply pressure through accuracy and persistence was a highlight of the innings.
Redlands captain Jasper Sumner praised Pearson’s all-round contribution, describing it as one of the standout individual efforts of the season.
“That’s one of the best individual performances we’ve seen this year,” Sumner said.
“His control and accuracy with the ball were outstanding, and then to back it up with that level of maturity with the bat was impressive.
“He understood exactly what the team needed at both stages of the game.”
While the result ultimately went Gold Coast’s way, Pearson’s performance stood as a clear positive to come out of the match.
Displays of this quality underline his continued development and suggest he is well placed to carry this form forward, with opportunities at first grade level firmly within reach as the season progresses.
