The popular Redlands IndigiScapes Centre Eco Markets are set to return on Saturday 6 December, featuring eco-friendly activities, artisan market stalls and live music.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said this is a fantastic time of year to enjoy our unique natural environment and the festive events on offer.

“The event is also a great opportunity for our community to shop local and support our producers and artisans,” the Mayor said.

“From specialty products to unique displays, food vans and live entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the popular IndigiScapes Eco Markets.

“Family-friendly activities will include outdoor and messy play, flora and fauna face painting, and a star weaving workshop.

“The community will also be able to hear from community organisations and Council about the significant work being done to support our local environment.

“Groups attending the markets include Bayside Beekeepers, Oaklands Street Community Garden, and the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland.

“Music will be performed by Aroha Dolby, with Bay FM also on site to broadcast their ‘G’day it’s Saturday’ show live from the IndigiScapes grounds.

“Attendees will also be able to enjoy a discussion on upcycled fashion and a parade of bespoke pieces produced by designer Kim Bailey.

“This will take place on the market stage and is set to follow a special ticketed slow fashion breakfast being held in the IndigiCafe from 7.30am.”

Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie said the Eco Markets were the perfect way to celebrate the start of summer.

“With the festive season almost upon us, the markets will also be a great place to find unique gifts for family and friends,” Cr McKenzie said.

“A range of artisan products will be available, such as hand-made jewellery, glass suncatchers, art prints and much more.

“There will also be a pop-up stall where op-shop enthusiasts can browse a selection of vintage clothing and other second-hand items.

“IndigiScapes Native Community Nursery will be available for all your plant and garden needs, with IndigiCafe to reopen to the public from 9am after the ticketed breakfast.

“You can also enjoy a stroll through the IndigiScapes nature tracks, visit the Environment Centre and Gift Shop, or take in the natural beauty of the botanic gardens.

“This event is about celebrating all things local – from local businesses and locally-made creations to our naturally wonderful Redlands Coast environment.”

The Eco Markets will be held from 8am to 12pm on Saturday 6 December at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba.
