THE Salvation Army Employment Plus is dramatically expanding its reach, doubling the number of regions where it helps Australians with disability, injury, or health conditions find work.

The organisation now delivers the Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program in 12 regions, up from six.
Previously known as the Disability Employment Service (DES), the IEA program launched on November 1 to provide tailored, inclusive support for jobseekers, including the 5.5 million Australians living with disability.

Employment Plus will continue serving six existing regions including in Ipswich and Logan throughout Queensland.

National Director Dr Graeme White said the expansion reflected nearly 30 years of experience helping Australians overcome barriers to employment.

“Each person’s experience with disability is unique, and many face additional social challenges such as housing or financial difficulties,” he said. “Our jobseekers bring unique skills, resilience, and perspectives that enrich workplaces and strengthen teams.”

The expansion will also create 150 new jobs for Employment Plus staff and introduce a mobile bus service, bringing support directly to participants who face geographic or access barriers.

As part of The Salvation Army, Employment Plus can also provide holistic support for issues such as homelessness, family violence, substance dependence, and financial hardship, ensuring participants are better positioned to succeed in the workforce.

“Breaking down barriers to employment means not only finding jobs but helping people stay in them,” Dr White said.
