TEN-YEAR-OLD Wynnum Wolves striker Xavian Petelo is preparing for the football opportunity of a lifetime after being invited to visit and train with German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund later this year.
The Shailer Park youngster received the exciting news following Borussia Dortmund managing director Carsten Cramer’s visit to Wynnum Wolves’ Carmichael Park base last week.
Xavian, who has played football since he was four, will head to Dortmund in December or January for an initial two-week stay, with the possibility of extending the visit.
“It’s really exciting for me because I have an opportunity to go further,” Xavian said.
The prolific striker, who proudly reveals he once scored 40 goals in a season, models his game on French superstar Kylian Mbappé and dreams of one day playing professionally.
His preferred destination? Dortmund.
The Bundesliga giant has developed some of the world’s leading young players, including England star Jude Bellingham and Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland.
Xavian celebrated the invitation with a FaceTime call to former Dortmund and Scotland midfielder Paul Lambert, who has been a strong supporter of the young player.
Lambert recently spoke glowingly of Xavian during an appearance on the UK’s The Managers Podcast, describing him as the best 10-year-old player he had seen.
It is a big wrap for a player still finding his feet in the game, but Xavian is enjoying every minute of his football journey at the Wolves.
While a future Socceroos call-up would be a dream, Xavian has his immediate sights set on making the most of his Dortmund experience.
For one young striker from Shailer Park, December cannot come soon enough.
