THE Redlands community is mourning the loss of a 19-year-old man following a fatal traffic crash in Thornlands, with tributes flowing and a fundraiser gaining support to assist his family.
Raffaele “Ralph” Logarzo died after a collision on Boundary Rd on April 4.
According to Queensland Police, preliminary investigations indicate a black Honda motorbike was travelling along Boundary Rd about 6.50pm when a white Kia Cerato turned right from Affinity Way into Boundary Rd, colliding with the motorcycle.
The rider, an 18-year-old Redland Bay man, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
The driver of the Kia, a 24-year-old Acacia Ridge man, was not injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including whether speed was a contributing factor, and has appealed for witnesses.
In the wake of the tragedy, friends have paid tribute to Ralph, describing him as someone “deeply loved and cherished” who “touched everyone in a different way for the better”.
A GoFundMe campaign organised by Noah Jespersen has raised more than $6000 towards a $9000 goal to support Ralph’s family with funeral costs.
“Tragically on the 4 April 2026, at around 6.30pm in Thornlands, Ralph was hit while travelling to a mate’s house,” the fundraiser states.
“The injuries sustained were substantial and despite all efforts, he tragically passed away.
“He was deeply loved and cherished by all his family and friends and touched everyone in a different way for the better.”
The tribute adds: “A part of everyone is forever missing without you brother, we will always love you.
“The money from this gofundme will be used to help support his family with the funeral costs. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
“Rest in Peace Ralph.”
Police investigations remain ongoing.
