AFTER years focused largely on private commissions, acclaimed Queensland artist Philip Farley has returned to the gallery scene with a new exhibition showcasing his distinctive interpretations of the natural world and local landscapes.
The Philip Farley Earth, Sea & Sky Exhibition is currently on display at Straddievarious Gallery and will run until June 28.
The exhibition came about following discussions between Mr Farley and gallery owners Deb McCann and Jacquie Holmes, who were keen to showcase a collection of original works, many inspired by locations and scenes familiar to Redlands Coast residents.
The official opening night attracted a strong crowd of art lovers and community members, with State Member for Oodgeroo Amanda Stoker formally opening the exhibition and veteran radio personality Alan McGirvan serving as master of ceremonies.
Guests enjoyed live music from musician Andrew Cairns and catering provided by Chop N Chill, creating a relaxed harbourside atmosphere for the event.
Visitors to the exhibition can enter a raffle to win a limited-edition print of one of Mr Farley’s Brisbane cityscape artworks.
The exhibition is open at Straddievarious Gallery in Raby Bay Harbour until June 28.
