Nominations are now open for the 2026 Queensland Training Awards, marking 65 years of recognising the apprentices, trainees, teachers and employers who are building Queensland’s workforce — including right here in the Redlands.

The milestone awards come as skills shortages continue to impact industries across the state, highlighting the importance of strong and accessible training pathways for Queensland’s future.

For more than six decades, the Queensland Training Awards have celebrated the people who keep local businesses running, support essential services and help young Queenslanders build secure careers close to home.

Member for Redlands Rebecca Young MP said the awards were an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the region’s strong training culture and local talent.

“The Redlands is home to incredible apprentices, trainees, trainers and employers who go above and beyond to support skills development in our community,” Mrs Young said.

“When locals see their efforts recognised, it builds pride and confidence in what the Redlands has to offer.

“It also sends a powerful message to young people that vocational education is a genuine pathway to a good job, a strong career and a great life right here at home.”

Mrs Young said local apprentices, trainees, students, teachers and employers were helping build a skilled workforce that supports key Redlands industries, including construction, marine services, health care, hospitality and small business.

“These industries are vital to keeping jobs local and strengthening our community,” she said.

Nominations for the 2026 Queensland Training Awards close on March 22, 2026.
