MOUNT Cotton State School students have marked a remarkable milestone by forming a giant “1-5-0” for a drone photograph as preparations build for a community celebration of the school’s 150th birthday.
The school’s students and staff came together in August to create the anniversary formation, with Victoria Point State High School capturing the image from above.
Mount Cotton State School thanked staff member Mr Wilesmith for helping ensure the numbers were perfectly aligned, describing the image as a reflection of the pride and spirit of its school community.
The milestone will be formally celebrated with a 150 Years Celebration and Country Fair on Friday, October 30, from 3pm to 7pm.
Hosted by the Mount Cotton State School P&C, the event will welcome current families, former students, past staff and the wider community to the school at 1246 Mount Cotton Rd.
The fair will include local market stalls, a historical showcase, food trucks, live entertainment, rides and family-friendly activities.
The P&C said the school had been a centrepiece of the Mount Cotton community for a century and a half and hoped the celebration would bring together generations of people connected to the school.
“Whether you are a current school family, a proud local resident, or an alumnus who walked these halls decades ago, we want you there to celebrate our shared history and community spirit.”
Entry is open to the community, with free ticket registration helping organisers plan for attendance, activities and food. Free tickets can be registered at events.humanitix.com/mcss150years.
