FOR many Australians, writing a will is one of those jobs that sits permanently on tomorrow’s to-do list.
It’s easy to understand why, but Leanne Cloete from Kate Redman and Associates is ready to assist with one of life’s important tasks.
Working with the team at Kate Redman & Associates, Leanne specialises in wills, estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation, guiding families through some of life’s most significant milestones with compassion, practical advice and reassurance.
“We’re a small, close-knit team and there’s a real sense that everyone genuinely cares about the people we help,” she said.
“My role involves guiding clients through everything from putting their wishes in place to dealing with the practical and legal issues that arise after someone has passed away.”
One of the firm’s defining points of difference is its mobile legal service across Brisbane and the Redlands, meeting clients wherever they are most comfortable.
“Life doesn’t stop for an office visit,” she said.
“Rather than ask clients to come to us, we go to them. It removes a barrier that stops a lot of people from ever getting their will done in the first place, and it means the conversation happens somewhere they’re comfortable, not somewhere they feel rushed.”
Leanne said she had noticed growing awareness of estate planning throughout the Redlands.
“The region has a strong mix of long-term residents, growing young families and retirees, and all three groups are becoming more proactive about getting their affairs sorted rather than leaving it for ‘one day’,” she said.
“There’s also greater awareness of blended families and more complex asset structures, which naturally brings more people to seek proper advice.”
She is also passionate about encouraging younger Australians not to dismiss estate planning as something for later in life.
“A will isn’t about age, it’s about responsibility,” she said.
“If something happens to you without a will, decisions about your children or your estate fall to legislation, not your wishes.”
For Leanne, however, the greatest reward comes after the paperwork has been signed.
“The relief people feel once it’s done,” she said.
“Clients often come into a meeting saying they’ve been putting it off for years, and leave wondering why they waited so long. Knowing we’ve taken a weight off their shoulders and made things easier for their family is incredibly rewarding.
“Calm, kind and sorted – that’s genuinely what we aim for with every client.”
